10 Ghee Walon ka Rasta, (a lane off Johari Bazaar, between shops 272 and 273).

Founded over 50 years ago by the current owner’s father, this little sweet shop has a small café through a white arch adorned with pictures of deities. Four tables fit neatly into the white and green room, and there is efficient table service. The chai (tea) is excellent and they have coffee, plus you can order sweets or they will go across the lane to Shri Ram Chat Bhandar to get you excellent savoury snacks including kachoris (fried ball of dough stuffed with savoury filling) and samosas (fried pastry with savoury filling), which are just a few rupees each. I think this was my favourite discovery in the old city, somewhere to restore and rest, and not a tourist or a tout in sight.
