A stunning piece of vibrant pink mashru fabric with tiny green dots, a green border, and green back. It was bought from one of India’s most famous textile designers. This would make a gorgeous sari blouse or a very pretty cushion.

Mashru is an Arabic word and is used for a special mixed fabric woven with a silk warp and a cotton weft. Muslim men who were prohibited to wear pure silk fabric against their body traditionally wore this textile. The silk yarns are on the outer side and the cotton on the inner side. The silk weave provides a luxurious sheen. Today only a few families in the village of Patan, North Gujarat (about three hours north of Ahmedabad) continue to weave this traditional textile. Dry-clean only.
