India’s love affair with cinema and movie stars is everywhere. This fabulous wooden box is a hand-painted portrait of famous Bollywood actor, Vinod Khanna and is signed by the artist, Satinder. The sides and interior are decorated with a fluid green pattern.

The Bollywood film industry began in the Indian city of Bombay (now called Mumbai) in 1899 almost a decade before Hollywood was created and today (pre pandemic) makes over a thousand films annually, twice as many as are produced in Hollywood. Originally the Bollywood hoardings and movie posters were hand-painted and now the vintage posters are much in demand by film lovers, art lovers, collectors, interior designers and even museums. This wooden box pays homage to that artistic tradition.
